Order of Service

  • Order of Service announcements must be short and to the point, with a maximum of 20-30 words
  • Most programming announcements may be listed in the Order of Service once, the Sunday prior to the event. Institutional announcements may be repeated for more than one week
  • Group-focused announcements are rarely appropriate unless they represent a last-minute change.
  • Special flyers are not allowed in the Order of Service. Groups must coordinate a group of volunteers to hand out their flyers after the service
  • Submissions are due in the church office by noon on the Wednesday prior to the Sunday, attention Chrystal Teachout.
  • Methods of submission are the same as for The Liberal

Pulpit Announcements

Oral announcements of events, issues, etc. are commonly requested but there is a limit to what can be accommodated without diminishing the nature of the Sunday service

  • Announcements should be submitted to the church office by noon on the Wednesday prior to the service, attention Chrystal Teachout
  • Pulpit announcements should take five to ten seconds to read
  • Detailed information (phone numbers, etc.) should not be included since it is unlikely the listeners will be taking notes
  • Pulpit announcements should only be done once for an event, unless it is a congregational meting or important institutional matter
  • Methods of submission are the same as for The Liberal
