Dear First Universalist Members and Friends:

We would like to begin this exciting church year, this year of discovery and new vision, with words from you, members and friends. Why are you here? What does First Universalist Church mean to you? We are looking for one or two sentences from all of us, words that will be gathered and posted in the Fellowship Hall, quotes that will be published in the Order of Service, inspiring reminders to all of us why we are here. Please take time to think about your sentence. What do you say when somebody asks about First Universalist. What brought you here? Why do you stay.

We are looking for one sentence only...longish sentences are okay...and would love to have a quote from everybody in your family, young and old, to underline one of our themes for the year: WE are the church.

You can e-mail your sentence to Ben Cooper, Director for Worship and the Arts at bcooper@goldengate.net or drop them off in the beautiful box that will be in the office beginning Sunday, September 9th.

Here are a couple of examples to get you started:

We came to First Universalist for our children and stayed for the community. Nora Whiteman, member since 1992

I really believe that all religious traditions have a lot to offer and when I went church shopping, First Universalist just felt right. Sue Scott, friend since 2002

We are Unitarians in our heart of hearts and love the community of First Universalist. Welcome Jerde, member since 1998

When someone asks me what UUism is, I’ll continue to say it’s the coolest religion ever. Adrian Wackett, Coming of Age Spiritual Statement, 2007

Thank you so much. We can’t wait to hear from you!
