Green Sanctuary

A Green Sanctuary is a church wide initiative to secure and maintain a UU Green
Sanctuary Certification.  The objectives of the program are the following:

  1. To build awareness of societal environmental issues among UU’s.
  2. To generate commitment for personal faithbased lifestyle changes.
  3. To motivate UU’s to community action on environmental issues.
  4. To build a connection between spiritual and environmental consciousness.
  5. To build awareness of and rectify environmental injustices.
  6. To implement environmentally friendly actions and policies within the church facility

In 2009/2010 We will be working on 12 actions for our Green Sanctuary certification including improving our recycling, Ethical Eating film/discussion group, and connecting environmental and spiritual themes in the Religious Education curriculum.
