Labyrinths

Awakenings: Lessons for Living has information about psychological and spiritual tools for living. There is a labyrinth section which includes general labyrinth information, a free labyrinth screen saver, and the 3D Labyrinth Stereogram. Pictures of local labyrinths are posted.

Begehbare Labyrinthe - [Walkable Labyrinths] This site is in German, but it is a good list of newly constructed labyrinths with photos in Germany.

Geopartiture project - The art group Dragon's Springs continues the Geopartiture project, which works with contemporary art, and geomancy, labyrinths, and similar things of interest to us in terms of contemporary art, connecting with archaic, with ancient tradition. This Russian site has many good ideas and new ways of looking at labyrinths. Mac users use Netscape - it's Java intensive.

Jo Edkins' Maze Page -- A different perspective with some very interesting work with paths, color and pattern. Discusses many different types of labyrinths (which she calls "Mazes"). This one's worth a look.

The Labyrinth Project of Connecticut, Inc. offers public walks on both the Classical 7-circuit and the Chartres 11-circuit labyrinths, and workshops are given by request. Marty Cain is an artist who builds labyrinths and sacred sites, dowses for water and geopathic stress in homes and businesses. She has been working with labyrinths for a long time, and has done a lot of work to popularize them - especially in New England, but now, more and more around the world. She offers numerous examples of the labyrinths she has built.

Mid-Atlantic Geomancy is run by TLS Member Sig Lonegren and Patrick MacManaway, has lots of information about Earth Energies, Archaeo-astronomy, Sacred Geometry and Dowsing. There is a whole section on labyrinths, including information about how to draw them, the names of the parts, their relationship to colours and chakras, and his simple but effective labyrinth mediation technique. Also new material on how to locate your labyrinth in your garden.

Mandala Labyrinth Project -- Bailey Cunningham. The Millennium Mandala Labyrinth Project will create a portable walking labyrinth composed of children's mandalas. The children's 8" x 8" mandalas will be unified in a collective artpiece to create an inspirational visual experience for the labyrinth walker. A curriculum will be available to teachers and schools utilizing the mandala as a tool to teach and expose children to a variety of subjects and cultures.

Makaha Chartres Labyrinth - Dr. Neal Pinckney's oceanfront labyrinth on the leeward coast of Oahu, Hawaii. Features a "Visual Walk", a Java applet that lets one follow a heart as it travels the path in and then out of the labyrinth at about the same speed as one would walk it.

Sacred Walk - Georgiana Lofty: artist, psychotherapist and labyrinth facilitator providing workshops to teach use of the labyrinth as a transformational tool. This site contains History, Guidelines, Frequently Asked questions, a Photo Gallery, and a Discussion Board for comments and experiences of walking.

Surrender to the Heart - Rebecca Rodriguez. has created a beautiful Labyrinth Of The Lake, the construction of which is featured in beautiful color photos, as well as "Prayer For The Higher Good" with accompanies it.

Through Mazes to Mathematics A look at labyrinths by Tony Phillips of the State University of New York, of interest to those with a mathematical bent. Very interesting different way of looking at these ancient tools. It should be called "Through Labyrinths to Logarithms" it's not about mazes.

A Web of Labyrinths -- Alan Levine & Liz Warren. Developed by a team of students and their mythology teacher, the site chronicles various labyrinth festivals at South Mountain Community College since 1994, plus a "gallery" of labyrinths from around the world, and interactive activities for drawing a labyrinth and exploring the inner labyrinth vis self-reflection.

Labyrinth Creators

Earth Symbols is a company, run by TLS Members Alex Champion, that creates sacred space in the form of small or large walkable earthworks based on the archetypal patterns of nature, that are also spiritual symbols and unique interactive gardens. These earthworks are labyrinths, mazes and other other complex geometric symbols, which are based on the first or archetypal patterns of Nature.

Labyrinthe - Gernot Candolini was a participant from Austria at our last November's gathering in Denver. He writes, "With great help of my nephew Gabriel, I have been able to put my personal homepage into the net. It certainly is in German. (but there are some pictures)." Great Pictures!

The Labyrinth Company - David Tolzmann of The Labyrinth Company designs and builds custom-sized labyrinths in all media: portable labyrinths on canvas, vinyl and nylon; painted & parquet wooden floors and carpets for interiors; paving stones, mulch, and plantings in outdoor meditation garden settings. Clients include churches, retreat centers, friaries, hospitals, and individuals. Studios in Baltimore and New York.

Marty Cain is an artist and labyrinth builder living in New England. She has done this work since the eighties, and is a good teacher as well as an innovative labyrinth designer.

St.Louis Labyrinth Project is "dedicated to reclaiming the use of the labyrinth, an ancient spiritual tool, through sponsoring events for labyrinth walking, promoting education and research about labyrinths, and placing labyrinths for public and private use".TLS Members Robert Ferre and Ruth Hanna offer lots of information booklets, DIY kits and other related material. A good source of precise measurements of the Chartres Labyrinth.

StoneCircle -- Victoria Stone, MPH. StoneCircle specializes in designing labyrinths and other healing environments in health care and corporate settings. We offer training and education programs specifically designed for health care professionals interested in integrating the labyrinth into their existing patient care and community wellness programs and services.You will need to have the ShockWave Flash plug-in to go through their labyrinths. You can download it on their site if you need it. Their walks through both a Classical Seven Circuit and the Chartres type are pretty neat!

Mazes

Adrian Fisher is a builder of impressive public mazes - multiple pathed left-brain puzzles. He builds mazes on both sides of the Atlantic, and thus has a well-deserved international reputation. Mazes are not particularly related to geomancy, but they are interesting relatives of labyrinths.
