1) Deadlines are generally one and one-half to two weeks before The
Liberal is delivered to its audience. The publication schedule is
available and will be provided to each committee.
2) Priority will be given to articles received on time; late articles
may not be included due to space constraints.
3) Most announcements should only be placed in The Liberal
twice; announcements relating to Institutional matters (e.g. the Canvass,
ministerial issues) may be published more frequently.
4) Group-focused information will be published, space permitting, but
will have lower priority than Programming announcements or stories.
5) Appropriateness of articles will be determined by the Editor and the
Communications Coordinator.
6) Additional flyers or inserts may be included with advance
arrangements made through the office. However, the sponsoring group is
responsible for printing unless arrangements have been made through the
office. Materials to be printed by the office must be in the office a week
prior to the deadline. The ideal size is 7 x 8½ (half a legal page).
7) Submissions to The Liberal should include the name and phone
numbers of one or two contact persons in case there is a need to follow up
if there are questions on the material or if the articles need to be
edited.
8) Due to space constraints, articles normally must be less than 125
words. Note that the maximum per page is 450 words-allowing for some white
space and graphics. Copy may be edited without notice based on space
availability. If your article or announcement requires more than 400
words, please contact the editor. You may want to consider a separate
insert or other means of communication.
9) The Liberal is a vehicle for distributing church-related
information. The Liberal cannot accommodate the following requests:
- Commentary or opinion pieces
- Employment ads
- Want ads of any kind (i.e., apt. for rent, roommate wanted, car for
sale)
10) Because of the volume of requests from social service groups
looking for volunteers, all requests for space in The Liberal
asking for volunteers must go through the Social Justice Coordinator.
