Communication Policies:
Definitions
Important distinctions are made between three types of internal
communications. They directly affect the types of communication vehicles that
are and are not appropriate.
A. Group Focused
Information or announcements that are relevant only to a well-defined
sub-group within the church. E.g.
- Choir will not rehearse this week
- The Social Justice Council will meet Tuesday at 7:00
- Canvass volunteers please pick up your packets
B. Institutional
Information or announcements with major church-wide significance in terms
of our institutional well-being and religious mission. E.g. matters pertaining
to
- Canvass
- Auction or other church-wide fundraising events
- Calling, reviewing professional ministers
- Congregational meetings
C. Programming
Information or announcements intended for the entire congregation but which
pertain to narrower areas of programming. E.g.
- Adult education courses
- Jazz band concert
- Political rally or protest march
- Volunteers needed for Teacher Appreciation
- Car wash for Youth Cultural Exchange
